Granite Steps Sealed

Here they are clean and sealed. I'm so glad I spent the extra money on the granite over tiles.

What's Under The Tarp?

The un-covered pallet in the foreground of the photo is a clue. Stay tuned and all will be revealed Tuesday if the weather holds.

Front Progress Picture

This photo gives an idea of how all the elements of the hardscaping and landscaping are starting to come together. Once the front path is tiled I'll move on to getting the driveway sorted.

Granite Laid

It took Andy and me 2 days to lay the granite and tiles on the front steps but the result is well worth the effort. They still need a final coat of sealer and silicone applied along the edges. Some good progress this last week or 2.

Developers Fence Revamp

In the interests of making the Stockland built fence a better thing I'm adding sleepers along the bottom to retain gravel and give the fence a more finished look. Trying to find straight...ish sleepers is fun....forget Bunnings they sell Bananas for sleepers...lol.

Granite Steps

I went a little over the top with the top face of the stairs by choosing Rebated Black Flamed Granite (Not cheap) but I think it looks stunning along side everything else.

But Wait There's More!

The first picture shows the area which will contain the Bali Hut, the rock on the ground is crushed Sandstone. All going well we will order the Bali Hut sometime today and hopefully the installation won't take long as things in the building trade are very slow around here at the moment. Moving to the second picture this is the cobble stone feature turned into a path.....the jury is still out for me on this one.

Back Yard Taking Shape

Turf was laid yesterday along with more cobblestones. Spent today cleaning, painting and adding more electrical wiring for the outside garden lighting. We have run out of cobblestones so the path is only an outside edge until I can order more on Monday. My right elbow is killing me after painting non-stop for a week.....ouch.

Rendering Outdoor Features

A small milestone today as the rendering of our outdoor hardscaping takes place. Looks like it turned out well and I look forward to painting the features and finishing off a another part of the landscaping.

Front Stairs Take Shape

The front stairs will be finished in the same way as the back with tiles and granite. I'm expecting the renderers later in the week if the weather holds. They will be rendering the planter boxes and the walls bordering the stairs at the rear of the property.

The next step will be concreting a path from the stairs to the front door and then the long overdue driveway.

The Grand Design Nearing Completion

A few shots of the cleaned rocks that form the retaining walls. You can now see the final form of the stairs which lead to the future BBQ area. The stairs will be tiled and the top of each step covered in rebated granite.

The Grand Design Progress

The final planter box design after an initial hiccup on the original design. We are much happier with this L-Shaped layout. Next step will be to render, paint and plant out. Thinking of Star Jasmine for the feature plant.

Before & After

Mud! Feels a bit like trench warfare at the moment. Anyway a before and after shot of the stairs which will lead down to the BBQ area.

Rear Rock Wall Complete

This is were we are up to as of Friday. This week brings planter boxes and stairs front and rear if the weather holds up. The walls need a good pressure wash to clean them up and bring out the colour.

Hardscaping Progress

These pictures show a near complete first level wall. The second level will be stepped one metre back from the lower level.

Final Hardscaping

The beginning of the end! No it's not the end of the world just the final phase of our hardscaping. The guys from Eden Earthworks are going to be with us for the next few weeks doing rock walls, steps and planter boxes to complete all the hardscaping.

Busy Weekend Part 1

We have laid more rocks but then ground to a halt due to our supplier running out of the crushed quartz rocks. No more till after the Easter/Anzac day break...oh well my back needed a break anyway...lol. Got to work putting the clothes line together so another job can be ticked off a very long list.
